great book, begins in the 19th century with Nihilist assasinations in russia, bombings in London that inspired great novels on bonbings by Henry James (Princess Caassimassima) and Jospeh Conard (The Seceret Agent, Under Western Eeys, many short stories)--to the present--many many different groups different counries along the way--and changes in the motives and methods--Carr is a very good writer--(English--)am half way through it--(reading it in bookstore)
